Overwhelming rain hit Central Texas over Independence Day weekend, creating deadly flooding in Kerr County. In response, several groups were mobilized and sent to Central Texas, including eight Longview Fire Department officers who also serve on the Texas A&M Task Force 1.

Central Texas, with its rocky soil, steep terrain and susceptibility to heavy rain, has been prone to devastating floods over the decades.
