Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford advised against tourists visiting the area as the New Mexico mountain town continues to recover from Rio Ruidoso flooding.

The overflowing floodwaters washed away local houses, broke trees, submerged roads, and caused miserable damage in Ruidoso.

Flash flooding hit Ruidoso and caused widespread damage and claimed the lives for three people. As flash flooding began, KOAT viewer Jesus Figueroa filmed a wall of water flowing down the Rio Ruidoso as the flash flood began.
