MicroStrategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has revealed a strategic plan to raise $42 billion in capital over the next three years. The company intends to raise $21 billion through equity offerings and another $21 billion via fixed-income securities to bolster its Bitcoin holdings.

MicroStrategy Inc. shares were up 10% after the software company and cryptocurrency play purchased $4.6 billion of bitcoin. In an SEC filing Monday, MicroStrategy said that it acquired approximately 51,780 bitcoins for approximately $4.6 billion in cash, at an average price of approximately $88,627 per bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses.
