Jonathan Kuminga will remain sidelined for the Golden State Warriors' matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

Kuminga, 22, participated in practice for a second straight day on Thursday but again wasn’t cleared for live contact. The Warriors aren’t going to activate him before he scrimmages with the team, effectively ruling him out for Friday night’s contest in Sacramento.

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is progressing well in his rehab from a sprained ankle in January.

"Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who suffered a sprained right ankle on January 4 vs. Memphis and has missed the last 21 games, returned to team practice this evening at Chase Center for the first time since sustaining the injury," the statement read. "His return to game action will be based on his continued progress and physical readiness."

The Golden State Warriors are currently situated in an uncomfortable position as the Western Conference's No. 10 seed with a 28-27 record, though the team has been missing their former No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and budding star forward Jonathan Kuminga for several weeks.
